Arguably the finest woman to play beach volleyball, Misty May-Treanor will make her third Olympic appearance in Beijing.
Misty May Treanor is one of the best American beach volleyball players.
Pictures of the Athens Olympic Finals in which Misty May and Kerri Walsh resoundingly defeated the many times world champions from Brazil, Shelda Bede and Adriana Behar, in straight sets, 21-17 and 21-11.
Looks like Misty May-Treanor is done on Dancing with the Stars the two time Olympic gold medalist broke her ankle during DWTS rehearsal last week.
In Athens, May-Treanor and current partner Kerri Walsh dominated a different Brazilian pair, Adriana Behar and Shelda Bede, to win gold, the first by an American female tandem.
Misty, the face of women’s beach volleyball, has dominated the sport with teammate Kerri Walsh.
As a team, May-Treanor and Walsh bring a 101-match winning streak to the Olympics, and they have won 18 consecutive tournaments , both all-time bests.

May-Treanor and teammate Kerri Walsh were the gold medalists in beach volleyball at both the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics.
She has won more tournaments than any other female player with 103 career wins.

The Americans earned the most Olympic qualifying points in the world, but will be the No. 2 seed in Beijing because of an FIVB rule that allows the top seed to go to a team from the host nation if it finishes the qualfying period ranked in the top six.
Instead, she chose to pursue a beach volleyball career and teamed with Holly McPeak, a skilled beach player looking to win a medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics after a disappointing 5th in 1996 with partner Nancy Reno.
Only two nations have won a men’s beach volleyball gold medal since it became an Olympic sport in 1996.
All of the Athens medal winners show off their new hardware: Misty and Kerri with the gold, Shelda Bede and Adriana Behar of Brazil with the silver, and fellow Americans Holly Mc Peak and Elaine Youngs with the bronze.
May-Treanor spent her high school years in Costa Mesa, California.
